DevSecOps FAQ
DevSecOps Insights with Robert Bruce, TCG Deputy CTO
TCG’s DevSecOps solutions are designed to fit the unique structure and operational needs of each organization, whether supporting a small development team or a large multi-team Federal environment. We recognize that agencies of different sizes face different operational and collaboration challenges.
For larger organizations, we focus on improving coordination between teams and reducing silos through shared responsibility and streamlined workflows. For smaller agencies, we emphasize automation and efficiency to help teams accomplish more with fewer resources. Our approach is always practical, scalable, and aligned with mission requirements.
One of the most overlooked challenges in modern DevSecOps is open-source supply chain security. Many development environments rely heavily on third-party packages and external repositories, which can introduce security vulnerabilities and operational risks if not properly managed.
TCG addresses this through protective sequestration (PS), a strategy inspired by public health practices. Updated packages and dependencies are isolated within a controlled “quarantine” process before entering production repositories. This helps agencies reduce exposure to compromised or vulnerable software while strengthening overall system integrity and trust.
TCG follows an iterative and mission-focused approach to modernization. Instead of attempting large-scale operational overhauls all at once, we prioritize high-impact challenges first and implement improvements in manageable stages.
This approach preserves institutional knowledge, minimizes operational disruptions, accelerates measurable results, and helps agencies reduce long-term costs while continuously improving software delivery and security practices.
